April 19th Chairman’s Message

Hi Everyone,
We have a ton of info here!
Performance – we are soooo thrilled with the improvement between the dress rehearsal and the Preview performance! yeah – we made it through a complete  performance. Only 6 to go! Congrats! One improvement we can make easily is to make our call times. The call boys call two numbers ahead of your stage time, please pay attention to what they are calling. If you have a quick change, please make it in the locker room, the space below the stage, or the side stage space. If you need a dresser, please ask for help! Do NOT be shy about this.
Show dates: Thursday April 26th questions – Yes – we are doing the Thursday show (our only one), please encourage public service and students over 16 to attend for $10 when they show student ID or their  badge. We can leave our stuff in the rooms for the weekend shows. For Sunday and Thursday, we need to empty the rooms and leave them as we found them.
Opening – please articulate your lines clearly and loudly – it is looking much better! We need to add a line about applause counting as it relates to the skit competition. Our applause meter measures audience response. Perhaps this fits with the boos and hisses dialogue?
Finale – everyone should be singing the last chorus and half. Please fill the side stages and balcony first, then the side sets. Steering should fill the side with the bar. The choreographers should fill up the ramp on stage right.  Entres can fill up the stairs and Belles’ place on stage left, then fill the ramp and side set.
Seating during the show – The 2 permanent seats nearest the kitchen door should be reserved for companions of anyone seated in the handicap space next to them. Cast & Crew should NOT be sitting in these seats.
Choreographers may enter through the close to kitchen doors to watch their own #. If any other cast & crew are entering to watch the show live, please enter through the side stage entrance, not the hallway doors (that disturbs the audience) and then sit in the side floor seats, ONLY.
After the Ball party – please look for a flyer and payment details in the library. We will be having a Cinco de Mayo Cast & Crew/After the Ball Party to celebrate!
DVD – $35 (includes both) – We will be filming on Sunday April 22nd at 2 pm. John Stevens will be filming our show. We will be recording both the ambient sound and the output from the sound system. The video will be $35 and will include the  show and photo montage. You will be able to pre-order this as well, so look for a separate email on this topic.
Pictures – Chet’s pictures from picture night and other times can be seen here. These are for sale for the benefit of the schools: Photo Nights 1 & 2 and Dress photos are up.  www.shutterfly.com/pro/Chet/CB2012
Hospitality  – please visit these restaurants after the Ball – April 20th – Creo La on El Camino; April 21 Piacere on Laurel Street
Yards signs – we have about 3 left, but no stands; these can be posted in a window.
Chairmen &  Other Pictures
Chet would very much like to get committee photos taken this weekend in the library. The set construction gang should bring their tool bags! Other chairmen and teams should be taken Saturday night in the Library. As for the choreographers, let’s take a picture in the theater on Saturday evening before the doors open – at 6:30 pm. All others – Chet will have his photo shoot area set up in the Library for us to take candid shots. He will have it set up next weekend (Friday and Saturday) as well.
Words of Wisdom?
We will be having a few words of wisdom before each show, plus the gypsy robe presentation by each skit at 20 minutes before show time (we were a little late on Sunday for our preview matinee..)
Back stage Help – it seems like we have had enough recruiting help for back stage and that we could just use a few volunteers for concession this weekend, especially Saturday. Send them to Sonya if you anyone wants to volunteer.
Special Cameo Appearances – One of our Spring Fling items was a walk-on cameo role for each school. This weekend, we will be having Kelly Baird from Brittan Acres join us for opening!
Judges – we have a spectacular line-up of judges for each show We have made a special sheet of bios for the judges that will be handed out at every show. Please check out who is supporting our judging efforts!!!
Marketing – we sent another press release out this week, along with a message to Kindergarten parents letting them know what the Ball is all about! Please share the neighbor flyer and the facebook event with your friends and family so that they can get the link to online ticket sales. Also – if they like our facebook page, they cane get automatic updates!
Looking forward to a fabulous show on  Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!!
Break a Leg!!!

CHICKENS’ BALL SURVIVAL KIT
How to have a successful Chickens’ Ball – what is needed to survive your performances? Well, there are a few things that are very helpful to have back stage: mirror, lighted mirror, clothing rack, changing area (tri-fold screen); full length mirror; a well-stocked SHOW make-up bag – extra bright blush, false eyelashes (and glue), base make-up, etc. (see the make-up requirements on the cast & crew tab of chickensball.org), straight pins (not straight jackets, although talk to me after the show is over and I’ll tell  you if that was really needed). safety pins (large & small), bobby pins, hair pins, wig stand (if you use a wig), mustache or beard glue, garment  bags (especially good to have if it is raining)…, gum, mints, snacks, extra nude/skin tone hose, extra fishnet stockings, other extras (undergarments, etc. as needed), and probably a few more items, I am forgetting. Most of all, the ultimate survival tool is a willingness to have fun and a sense of humor! Definitely don’t forget to bring those!

Please send out the flyers emailed to you Friday, March 30th (or on hand at Central) and encourage your contacts to buy tickets NOW! Don’t forget to share our flyers – ticket flyer, show flyer and neighbor flyer! See last week’s message and the cast & crew tab  of our website for more info.

Have a fantastic week!
